What should I do if Phone As A Key will not open my door?
If you are experiencing an issue with Phone As a Key™*, ensure the requirements are met and perform the troubleshooting steps below.
Phone As A Key Requirements
If Phone As A Key is not working, make sure:
- Your phone is at:
- Bluetooth® version 4.2 or above
- iOS® version 13 or above
- Android™ OS version 8 or above
- You have the latest Ford app version installed.
- The Location Service/Permissions in your phone are set properly, as noted below.
- iOS: Always
- Android: Allow all the time
- The Vehicle Connectivity Settings are enabled.
- The Ford app is running on your phone.
- The phone case has been removed from your device.
Troubleshooting Steps
If your phone meets the minimum requirements, is set up properly, and you are still unable to use Phone As A Key, follow the steps below.
- Hold your phone close to the door you would like to open. If the issue persists, proceed to step 2.
- Try a different door.
- If another door opens, it may also allow the first door you tried to open to unlock.
Note: This will be fixed in a future software update. If you would like to have the update sooner, visit your preferred Ford Dealer.
- If other doors are not working, proceed to step 3.
- If another door opens, it may also allow the first door you tried to open to unlock.
- Toggle Bluetooth off and then back on.
- If the door still will not open, force close and relaunch the Ford app.
- If that does not work, reboot your device.
